New floor plan with furniture layout
The DejaVu home is bold in style and colour and brings together subtle influences from Mid-century modern, industrial and India-modern design. A monochrome colour palette is set against vibrant hues and balanced by warm neutrals.
Foyer -
The door opened straight into the living with no real foyer. A simple wooden slats partition was added to retain the openness while demarcating the areas. The foyer has very mid-century-inspired asymmetrical mirrors. A console made with different dark veneers also serves as a shoe rack.
From here on, the home opens up into vibrant vignettes of the home. A gorgeous Richa Kashelkar painting sets the mood and pulls together the entire colour scheme of the house. An armless Chandigarh chair in green velvet and walnut wood makes for a quick seating at the entrance. The wall has half veneer cladding in a natural teak colour and continues all the way to the kitchen.
Living -
The living area is simple and elegant with a large L-shaped couch and mid-century-inspired big tan leather and metal chairs. Nested centre tables for easy movement and a furry rug make the space inviting. The Tv cabinet is simple with a veneer and fluted glass combo which echoes the fluted walls and slated partition.
We opted for motorised blinds to cut the bulkiness of regular curtains and provide uninterrupted views of the park.
Kitchen -
The original plan of this house had a closed kitchen. Opening up the kitchen brought in such a drastic change and made the home feel more spacious and open. The kitchen is a Peninsula style kitchen. Geometric tiles, lacquered white glass and black PU under cabinets create a bold with a monochrome palette.
A separate utility area was created to keep the laundry area out of sight.
Industrial pendant lights from theblacksteel hang above the counter and industrial bar stools complete the look.
Dining-
The dining area has been redefined as a banquette dining nook as supposed to laying the dining table parallelly to the couch. The table and seating were custom designed. The dining is a six-seater with a lovely curved bench and chairs. The table is an oval terrazzo table top with black granite chips in concrete. It has a wooden base with a highlight of brass. A 7ft theblacksteel floor lamp overhangs over the tabletop. This cosy nook is the first thing that catches your eye upon entering the house.
A gorgeous green fluted art niche creates a backdrop for the dining and bar area. The fluted wall also conceals a sliding door opening into the main bedrooms. Wooden art inspired by Indian fabrics by Rachana Reddy
Master bedroom -
A room that exudes understated class in a bold, confident way. The monochrome leaf wallpaper and the teal combination of this room are unique and luxe and when layered with gold and tan, sensually elevate the space. A veneer cladding niche that works as a bookshelf with the cladding running all the way behind the bed creates an interesting visual element. The tan chair from Josmo and the custom bench straps complete the room. Suspended pendant lights are from the white teak
An open walk-in closet area was created with PU cabinetry and gold hardware and complete with a makeup mirror and dresser
Kid's Bedroom -
A room for a Michael Jackson-obsessed 4-year-old kid but made relevantly.
A theme 'Of Mickey Jackson was chosen to make it age-appropriate but without making it too childish. For this room, the layout had to be changed to make it more spacious by aligning bed by a wall. The fixed bed is big enough for two people and the ceiling with fibre optic stars makes it perfect for sleePovers.
A fun element in this room is a magnetic rod for the kid to put all his magnets on or simply convert a few of his toys into magnets on them.
The cupboards are made with lovely textured laminate and with coloured wooden knobs. The open bookshelf on the side has playful ladder book ends. Another
Guest Bedroom -
A cosy room with a vibrant burst of colours that's also restful. The curtains are a lovely dreamy lace. The planter pendant lights bring a bit of the garden inside. Vibrant photo art by Ramya Reddy. PU cupboards with black hardware are simple and elegant.
Balcony -
The balconies were redone to have wooden flooring and cosy seating while maximising the gorgeous park views.
Bathrooms -
The original tiles of the bathrooms were retained and just given a facelift with styling and vanities.
